This is what happens when we produce more carbon dioxide (greenhouse gases) than the planet can handle. Essentially, we’re causing a system overload.
Carbon footprint
It’s the total amount of greenhouse gases a person produces that remains trapped in our atmosphere. It’s kind of like leaving the shower on in a bathroom with no door or fan to let the steam out.
Sustainable Development
It means harnessing the planet’s resources without ruining everything for future generations. Who really wants to move to Mars?
Engineering
It’s how we find better, smarter alternatives to the actions that are killing our planet. No, it’s no easy feat!

Make your voice resonate across the country
Take a seat on a council, like the Environment and Climate Change Youth Council, that advises governments on environmental issues. One of the current members just happens to be an engineering student!
Get hands-on experience
CEGEPs, universities, and organizations such as Engineers Without Borders offer exciting fellowships and opportunities to make an impact and build your career.
Get involved in a committee of your peers
CEGEPs and universities are always on the lookout for passionate young climate champions like you to be part of their environmental committees. Ask them what you can do to help!
Engineering takes you from the infinitely small to the infinitely large. It can mean the difference between dreaming and turning those dreams into something grand.
