A Genius Idea to get out of the woods

A technological challenge in which students design prototype medical devices for an injured person, including a finger splint, a homemade stethoscope, and a makeshift stretcher. The activity explores material properties, sound propagation, and principles related to the human body through a design process inspired by biomedical engineering.

- The cardiovascular system
- Biomechanics
- Design of technological objects
Required Materials
- Rigid materials: craft sticks, cardboard, straws, bottles
- Absorbent materials: tissues, sponges, wadding
- Linking materials: elastics, twine, pipe cleaners
- Funnels or cones
- Flexible tubing
- Balloons or latex/nitrile gloves
- Brooms and towels for the stretcher
